THE IMMIGRATION
OF LEPIDOPTERA TO THE BRITISH ISLES IN 2011
SEAN P. CLANCy
‘
Pluto’, Dungeness Road, Dungeness, Romney Marsh, Kent. TN29 9NF.
(E-mail: trapsite@talktalk.net)
Abstract
Formally accepted records of immigrant Lepidoptera occurring in the British
Isles during the
year 2011 are listed and discussed. For less frequently encountered species,
full information is
given in Annex 1, presented in vice-county order, the individual localities
then listed
alphabetically for each VC. For the more regular/frequent immigrant species
recorded during
the season, annual summaries and a selection of the more important records
are presented in
Annex 2. It will be noted that the current report has been more delayed
than previous recent
reports; this has been deliberate to allow for the growing number of
recorders and sources of
immigrant records, and ensure the records listed in each report are as
accurate and comprehensive
as possible. It is likely this period of delay between the year under
consideration and date of
publication will continue to be maintained for all future immigration
reports. It should also be
noted that the species list continues to follow the Bradley (2000) taxonomic

RECENT
ADDITIONS TO THE MOTH FAUNA OF HERTFORDSHIRE
COLINW. PLANT
14 West Road, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire CM23 3QP
(E-mail: cpauk1@ntlworld.com)
Abstract
A review of the moths of the English county of Hertfordshire was published
in 2008 and included
all available data to the end of 2006. This present paper summarises
additions to the county
fauna since that work. Four moth species whose presence on the Hertfordshire
list was
unconfirmed are here confirmed. Sixteen species thought to have been
extinct in the county
have been rediscovered. Twenty-eight species completely new to the county
fauna are also listed.
The Hertfordshire moth fauna now stands at 1575 species at June 2015.
The number regarded
as locally extinct falls to 141 so that the number of species currently
present in the county is,
therefore, 1434.
